Relief Society Updates

1•Happy Mother’s Day!  We shared a message in the newsletter posted here last week and hope you get a chance to read it.

2•Our bishop has asked that all adult and youth members of the ward download the ‘Gospel Living’ app.  He would like to send messages to us using ‘Circles’, which is part of the app.  If you have questions or need help, ask a youth or let us know.

3•He has also requested that each ward member find a name to be ready to be taken to the temple once temples are open for proxy work.

4•In one more invitation, he wants everyone (of age) to be ready to go to the temple(s) as they open again.  He loves us all and wants all of us to enjoy the blessings of the temple in our lives!

6•On top of the things mentioned above, the bishop wants us to be aware of a few more things:

-If we are planting a garden, he would love to have us plant extra and then share with neighbors.  If anyone has questions, there are ward members that would be willing to help.

-To look at how we are we using our time.  Are we strengthening ourselves spiritually?  “...all things unto me are spiritual...” D+C 29:34

-How are our youth using their time?  Are we aware of what they are doing?

-Are we honoring the Sabbath Day?  He wants us to be very careful not to let it be a “get some things done” day.

-Thank you for all your ministering efforts, however humble they may be.

-Continue with your prayers/fasting/scripture study...
“...hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray...; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.”

6•Our Relief Society and Elders Quorum are joining in encouraging each of us to read and ponder on a Conference talk together every other week.  This week’s talk is:
That They May See
By Bonnie H. Cordon
Young Women General President
(April 2020 Conference)
*”Look and pray for opportunities to let your light shine that others may see the way to Jesus Christ.”

Birthdays:
Heather Housley - 13th
Susan Nye - 14th

Thank you to those who helped make masks and helped with meals for the missionary MTC!

We love you!  May the Lord continue to bless each of us as we serve Him and each other the best we can!

Easter Egg Story Activity.

Here is an Easter Egg idea my family has been doing for years that easily brings the Savior into the day.  It is a fun way to teach about the Savior.  I hope you enjoy it.
                                                        Love,  Sister Erica Harper

INSTRUCTIONS

Take 12 plastic eggs, number them 1-12 on the outside, place cut word strips (from following printable images) into each corresponding egg number (There are also suggested visuals to include in each egg ie. a small rock in #10).  On Easter, open eggs as a group, starting with egg #1, read them aloud and share the visual.  It is a fun way to teach about the Savior!

Copy and paste the following section into note pad or word pad and print from there.

EASTER STORY IN EGGS
1. Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief Priests, and said unto them, “What will ye give me, and I will deliver Him unto you?" And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. Matthew 26:14-15 This fulfilled the prophecy in Zechariah 11:12-14 that Jesus would be sold for 30 pieces of silver. (3 dimes)
2. And He went a little further, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me, nevertheless not as I will but as Thou wilte. Matthew 26:39 (sacrament or small cup)
3. When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death: And when they had bound Him, they lec Him away, and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the Governor. Matthew 27:1-2 (small rope or string)
4. When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying “I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.” Then answered all the people, and said, "His blood be on us and on our children." Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified. Matthew 27:24-26 (a piece of soap)
5. And they stripped Him, and put on Him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand: and they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they spít upon Him, and took the reed and smote Him on the head. Matthew 27:28-30 (a thorn)
6. And after that they had mocked Him they took the rope off from him, and put His Own raiment on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him. And as they came out they Found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear His cross. And He was crucified...nailed to the cross. Matthew 27:31-32 (a nail)
7. And they crucified Him, and parted His garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet... And sitting down they watched Him there Matthew 27:35-36 (dice)
8. Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom, and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent... Now when the centurion, and that were with him watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying. “Truly this was the Son of God.” Matthew 27:51-54 (soil)
9. Then Joseph (a rich man) went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock. Matthew 27:58-60 (a white cloth)
10. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulcher, and departed. Pilate said unto them (chief priests and Pharisees), “Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as you can.” So they went, and made the sepulcher sure, dealing the stone, and setting a watch. Matthew 27:60, 65-66 (a rock)
11. And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary, the mother of James, and Salmone, had brought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint Him. And behold, there was a great earthquake: for the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. And the angel said unto the women, “Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified." Mark 16:1 (spices)

12. He is not here, for He is risen… Matthew 28:6  THE EGGIS EMPTY, JUST LIKE THE TOMB. (nothing)

From the ward missionaries:

"Please join us in a worldwide fast this good Friday.  President Russell M Nelson has asked us to unite our faith in fasting and prayer in response to the worldwide pandemic, COVID-19.  I know that if we can all unite in fasting and prayer, the windows of heaven can be opened and we can have healing once again.   For more information see the link below.
                                                                                  Love your friend, David Buttars."
